Laura Canal paints with industrial and organic materials, constructing layered pictorial surfaces that operate as “skins” of matter. Canal deploys her materials as a field of tension between opposing forces, where residue, memory, and time sediment reactivate through processes of physical and inner excavation.

Her practice is influenced by Abstract Expressionism and material research, exploring an alchemical unification of the seen and the unseen world.
