THE PATH OF WATER

"MIRROR" 2024, MIXED MEDIA, 150CM X 150CM

This collection of artworks is inspired by the poem “The Path of Water” by Chuang Tzu: "Water does not seek to impose; it flows through the low, the soft, where no one expects it. But over time, it carves mountains, opens channels, and finds the ocean."

The sea, a vast and timeless presence, has influenced many of us deeply. For Carl Jung, the sea symbolised the subconscious—a mysterious inner world that invites us to explore the hidden depths within ourselves, just as the ocean holds countless unseen parts beneath its surface.

In these works, I use materials collected from the Mediterranean Sea—residues found in the sands of its beaches—to create textured pieces. These materials symbolise the need to bring conscious awareness both to the oceans we inhabit and to the thoughts that flow within us. Just as we must care for the physical health of our seas, we SHOULD also nurture and observe the currents of our inner minds.

Through this collection, I invite viewers to reflect on the delicate balance between the outer natural world and our inner psychological landscapes, emphasising the power of water as a symbol of endurance, change, and deep awareness.
